Barcelona revoke NFT Collection deal with Ownix

Soccer giant FC Barcelona has terminated the NFT collection marketing contract it signed with Ownix less than one month ago.

The Spanish-based side opted out of the deal following the arrest of Israeli crypto business magnate Moshe Hogeg, who has strong ties with Ownix.

“In light of information received today that goes against the Club’s values, FC Barcelona hereby communicate the cancellation of the contract to create and market NFT digital assets with Ownix with immediate effect,” Barcelona said on its website.

Hogeg was arrested alongside seven other suspects for their alleged involvement in a gigantic crypto-related scam. The 40-year old owns Beiter Jerusalem FC and is involved with different crypto startups.

As Newsbsc reported, Barcelona and Ownix announced a cooperation earlier this month to present and sell content from Barcelona’s history as NFTs on the Ownix NFT marketplace.

The NFT exhibition will still go ahead as planned, but the marketing deal signed by both sides is no longer valid.
