UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP PLANS TO LAUNCH NFTS ON LIMEWIRE’S ALGORAND TRADING PLATFORM

Just days after news about Napster’s return in the form of an NFT marketplace on Algorand. LimeWire which revealed it’s own Algorand-based marketplace in March, recently announced today that it had enlisted prominent label Universal Music Group to its platform.

This global deal will enable artists that are signed to Universal Music Group and its diverse imprint labels to release tokenized digital collectibles through the upcoming Limewire market platform.

Universal’s imprints consist of Def Jam Records, Interscope Records, Motown Records, Geffen, Republic Records, EMI, Virgin Music, and so on.

Altogether, the Universal Music Group buildup consists of big and prominent artists such as Chris Stapleton, Kendrick Lamar, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Abba, and Elton John. Today’s deal doesn’t really mean that these artists will put out NFTs through LimeWire, but they will have the opportunity to make releases.
