The US Senate will later today vote on the passing of the much-talked-about $1bn infrastructure bill.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said yesterday that the bill which has been on the front burner this past week will be concluded on Tuesday by 15:00 UTC.
“This is a very good day. We have come to an agreement after all the long, hard negotiating,” Schumer said ahead of Tuesday’s vote.
All efforts to amend the crypto taxation portion of the bill based on the new agreement (clarifying who a crypto broker is) from the two debating factions proved futile as it fell short of the Senate’s unanimous approval standards. Thanks to Senator Richard Shelby who objected to the bill because his unconnected amendment to the bill (additional $50 billion funding for the ministry of defence) was not adopted.
After the voting on the passing of the infrastructure bill, the US Senate will move on to debate a proposed $3.5 trillion bill that covers education, housing and clean energy.
