Premier League will scrutinize partnerships between clubs and crypto firms

The Premier League governing body is set to investigate the growing collaboration between clubs and crypto firms, citing concerns about the industry’s lack of regulation.

Different fans’ groups are also concerned that supporters (including children) are being lured to put “electronic money” into the scheme with hopes that their investment will yield significant interest.

A number of Premier League clubs including Watford, and Everton have partnership deals with crypto entities.

According to the Times, the regulator of England’s top tier football is mulling a partnership deal with a crypto entity that supports “digital collectibles”, which is fondly called NFT.

Manchester City recently pulled the plug on a crypto deal, and Spanish giants Barcelona cancelled its NFT collection pact with Ownix.
