The world’s largest social media platform, Meta (formerly known as Facebook), has submitted a trademark application with the Brazilian authorities to offer bitcoin and crypto services of different degrees in the South American country.
According to reports, the trademark registration, which was filed with the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), will allow Meta to design and develop both hardware and software technologies to facilitate crypto services such as trading, exchange activities, and digital wallet creation.
“Design, development, and implementation of software for third-party verification services for digital currency transactions, including (but not limited to) transactions involving Bitcoin currency.” A section of the document read.
Data shows that the trademark was filed from Jamaica on the 25th of January 2022. Meta now awaits approval from the authorities.
