Jack Dorsey Marvels at Bitcoin ownership rate in Nigeria

Nigeria continues to lead the pack when it comes to Bitcoin usage across the globe despite an outright ban on the industry by the government.

This has caught the attention of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey who shared a Medium article tagged “An open letter to Senator Elizabeth Warren.”

The Massachusetts based legislator is known for her criticism of the cryptocurrency industry.

Data shows that 32% of Nigerians own bitcoin, which is the highest rate in the world but the government has continued to frown at crypto-related activities.

In February, the Central Bank of Nigeria sent out a circular to other banks and financial institutions asking them to identify account holders and entities who participate in crypto-related activities and close their accounts.

This threat appears to have no effect on the Nigerian crypto community as it continues to grow in heaps and bounds.
