Google lifts three-year ban on Cryptocurrency ads

Search engine giants, Google, will lift the ban prohibiting cryptocurrency exchanges from advertising on its platform.

The embargo which has been in place since 2018.


“Beginning August 3, advertisers offering Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets targeting the United States may advertise those products and services when they meet the following requirements and are certified by Google,” the company said in a policy update statement on its support page.

Interested exchange firms will however need to complete a strict verification process before they will be allowed to use Google ads services.

This includes resgistration with “FinCEN as a Money Services Business and with at least one state as a money transmitter” or “a federal or state chartered bank entity,”

As a means of precaution, there will be no room for “ads for initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, or otherwise promoting the purchase, sale, or trade of cryptocurrencies or related products” on Google ads services.
