Gibraltar to Integrate Blockchain technology Into Government Operations

Gibraltar is taking public service delivery to another level by integrating blockchain technology into government operations. 

In a Tuesday press release, the country revealed that the initiative would be executed in partnership with Bitso, a locally licensed crypto exchange and RSK blockchain developer IOBVlabs.

The system is designed to work with and “enhance the functionality of Gibraltar’s eGov system.”

The project in its initial phase will allow users to store certificates and documents issued by the government.

“Gibraltar has successfully positioned itself as a forward-thinking jurisdiction for innovative businesses developing and offering blockchain-related solutions. Minister for Digital and Financial Services Hon Albert Isola MP said. 

He added: The implementation of blockchain technology into our processes in partnership with our stakeholders working here will further improve the way in which our community interacts with the government.”
