Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin, a new paper claims

Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin and it has the capability to dethrone BTC. Recent research done by many Australian universities has made this claim. The recent update of Ethereum (EIP-1559) is the main cause of this.

Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin:

The debate of Bitcoin vs Ethereum has been going for too long now. Both coins have their pros and cons. A new paper published by the Australian universities is getting popularity among the supporters of Ethereum. This paper claims that Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin. The title of the paper is “Better than Bitcoin? Can cryptocurrencies beat inflation?” This paper is authored by Ester Félez-Viñas of the University of Technology in Sydney and other academics.

The paper makes these claims based on the recent update of Ethereum (EIP-1559), which rolled out three months ago. This update burns Ethereum in a proportional way to the usage of the Network. The data shows that one million Ethereum coins have been put out of circulation after the activation of this update. The report further explains by saying:

“In many cases the amount of Ethereum burned outpaces the network’s creation of new tokens, resulting in Ethereum potentially becoming the world’s first deflationary currency. We argue that this provides better inflationary hedging properties than Bitcoin, and Ether may therefore offer superior long-term value storage than Bitcoin”.

Many people have claimed that Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin. There is a need for a lot of improvement on the Ethereum Network. Many users complained about the high transaction fees of the Network. In my opinion, Ethereum needs a lot of improvement and will have to cover a long journey to dethrone the flagship currency.
