The U.S Department of Justice identified a south Florida resident who was allegedly amassing millions through an online alias selling stolen account info like HBO, Netflix, and Uber on the dark web.

The suspect made use of crypto tumblers services that confuse individuals from their cryptocurrency tradings to embezzle their holdings. This was made possible by pooling together numerous crypto transactions and distributing the holdings to defined wallets at various times.

This seizure of $34 million worth of crypto was as a result of Operation TORnado. It made use of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and also the FBI, the DEA, and Homeland Security Investigations. This investigation comes from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF).

This case was prosecuted by asset forfeiture division assistant U.S Attorney Mitch Hyman, including Deputy Chiefs Nicole Grosnoff and also Nalina Sombuntham.

The lead prosecutor for Operation TORnado is Monique Botero, Chief of the Southern District of Florida’s International Money Laundering and Narcotics Section.
